Established in 2018, the journal provides a rigorous forum for scholarship that bridges theoretical inquiry and practical application across the human sciences, with a particular commitment to African, Global South, and underrepresented intellectual traditions. The name Gnosi, derived from the Greek gnosis (knowledge), reflects the journal's dedication to intellectual rigour and the pursuit of understanding across disciplinary boundaries. Since January 2025, Gnosi has refined its editorial focus to a defined set of specialised fields, including Digital Humanities, Environmental Humanities, Medical Humanities, Cultural Heritage Studies, Indigenous Studies, Philosophical Thanatology, Political and Economic Humanities in Africa, Public Economics, Taxation and Development Finance, and Theology and Religious Studies. This deliberate narrowing of scope reflects the journal's commitment to scholarly depth over breadth and to the publication of work that makes a substantive contribution to its field.

All research articles and review essays published in Gnosi undergo rigorous double-blind peer review by at least two independent scholars with demonstrated expertise in the relevant subject area. The journal maintains a publicly available publication ethics and malpractice statement in accordance with COPE guidelines, and its editorial board comprises scholars from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Gnosi publishes original research articles, review essays, book reviews, and commentaries, and welcomes both qualitative and quantitative approaches, provided that submissions engage critically with the theoretical, interpretive, or policy dimensions of their subject matter. The journal is guided by the intellectual legacy of its founding Editor-in-Chief, the late Prof. Asira E. Asira, whose vision continues to shape its mission. Volume 8, Number 2 (2025), titled Continuities of Being: Rethinking Personhood, Death, and Posthumous Existence, was published as a tribute to his life and work.
en-US Mon, 10 Aug 2020 11:09:35 +0000 OJS 3.2.0.2 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60
