Gnosi: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Theory and Praxis is a triannual (April, August, and December) anonymous Double-blind peer review academic-based journal, domiciled in the “Department of Philosophy” the University of Calabar, Nigeria. The first issue of Gnosi Journal appeared in the year 2018. Gnosi publishes theoretical, methodological, and firmly theoretically based empirical papers that contribute to a cross-disciplinary debate within Humanities and Social Sciences in the English and French Languages.
Between the year 2018-2021, "Gnosi Journal" published twice, two issue in a year (8 issues in 4 volumes). The journal’s two issues (June and December) were generally not thematic, but articles published were multidisciplinary in their approach, and deal with subjects in the areas of (including, but not limited to) history, philosophy, history of culture, anthropology, ethics, aesthetics, sociology, literary theory and criticism, linguistics, art history, and library and information science. The Journal has also published two special issues (2 thematic issues) which appeared in the year 2020 and 2021.
In 2022, "Gnosi Journal" began publishing Triannualy (April, August, and December). The Journal only considers manuscripts written in English and French languages. All manuscripts in the French language must be accompanied with both an "English" title and abstract. "Gnosi Journal" will also "only" consider publishing Special Issue when a proposal is received. "Gnosi Journal" limits the publication of "Special Issues" to once within a year, with no specific time frame (Day, Month, or Year). Proposal for special issues should be sent to Dr. Samuel Bassey: firstname.lastname@example.org
The philosophy of the journal is that good theory and strong methodologies are essential for successful practice. Critical texts, including book reviews, are welcome. Both quantitative and qualitative texts are accepted for publication, based on either positivist or humanist methodology if they are of high standards, and meets the requirement of a scholarly peer-review. The articles submitted for publication must not exceed 55.000 characters, including the references and annexes. Papers are submitted and published either in the English or French Language. Manuscripts must be prepared and are published in the American Psychological Association 6th edition (APA 6th Edition). The aim of every muscript recieved must be evident, the (hypo)theses, which are considered in it, must be clearly stated, the main original contribution must be highlighted, the methodology used must be evident. Articles must be equipped with an adequate scientific apparatus (references and list of references, etc.). All submissions must neither be under review elsewhere nor have been previously published. Every paper submitted goes through a plagiarism check (Plagiarism Checker X) before being subjected to external evaluation by experts. Authors must adhere to the Journal policy and must sign a copy right form. Gnosi journal charges publication fees.
While the journal is international in scope, papers accurately promoting African concepts, theories, and points of view, less known in the world literature, are especially welcome. This also applies to manuscripts authored by scholars from outside the core of the world socio-economic system, which gives chances for direct discussion with no mediation of the core.
